‘getting involved in the forum is about gaining more experience in the arts sector, meeting other young arts practitioners and working up collaborations for exciting projects’

Yaw Faso, Movement Maker organiser/independent musician and arts practitioner

Movement Makers is a youth led-arts forum for young people, artists, students, educators and community workers that explores the rich experiences of young arts practitioners working across diverse community settings.

Movement Makers will also facilitate the opportunity for the broader community to hear from, and exchange with the next wave of cultural leaders based in the West and beyond.

Movement Makers now in its second year continues to collaborate with and locate young arts practitioners at the centre of important and ongoing conversations.

The forum is a partnership program of cohealth arts generator and Brimbank Youth Services. Dynamic combinations of young people who are studying and/or working in the sector make up the organisers of the Movement Makers program, all of whom are passionate about creativity and believe in the power of art to transform and empower people.

The program will feature performances, storytelling, presentations, panel discussions and plenty of time to network with peers as well as sector representatives. Arts practitioners from west-side locals MASSIVE FAM,

Kings Park heavyweights The Movement Records and young women from Australia’s all girl dance-hall crew Culture Queens will represent alongside a host of young artists.

With a purchase of a ticket lunch is provided as well as a free performances after the forum for the opening of Big West Festival at the Paisley Street Car park in Footscray (next to Footscray Library) from 6pm – 9pm
